Make your life a little easier
We've all heard of concierges. They are the go-to people at top end hotels. They can call you a cab, book you a table at a popular restaurant, get you tickets to a sold-out show, organise your dry-cleaning, or have the cast of Glee perform a private show in your room. If that's your sort of thing.
Sounds expensive, right?
Luckily for the people of Perth, a new breed of personal concierge brings all the convenience of having a personal assistant without the rock star price tag. Specifically focused on everyday people, Kaye Hodgkiss of Lifestyle Assistance offers assistance to individuals and families with a range of services all designed to make life easier.
I was offered a two hour package of Kaye's time. I could have asked her to sort and file the three years of paperwork shoved into the upstairs drawer. She could have hunted down some quotes for some trades for me. She would have arranged the purchase and delivery of my new Ikea wardrobe system. She could have done all the running around organising my daughter's birthday party. I became a little delirious with the thought of off-loading some of my to-do list.

Kaye from Lifestyle Assistance
One of the tasks I finally asked her to undertake, was the rather time consuming (and boring) task of finding me a car company to drive me and my family (with three kids requiring various car seats, three adults and a LOT of luggage) between the airport and hotel when we travel to Sydney later this year.
Within two days, she had emailed me an extensive list of quotes, neatly presented in a table with all their contact details, inclusions and prices: and importantly, she had made contact with a colleague in Sydney and asked for an insider's opinion. What resulted was not only a comprehensive list, but a recommendation as well.
With ten years experience in nursing, and four years as a FIFO, Kaye is uniquely placed to understand the demands of a shift work lifestyle. One of her main client groups are FIFO workers who may need anything from a turn down service (fresh milk in the fridge, heaters turned on), to someone reliable to let tradespeople in while they are away, service the car or make dinner bookings for their return to Perth.
She is also available to country families who need a dependable person in the city to arrange purchases or courier goods between locations.
She is basically like having a wife (or a mum) who does things for you without complaining. And if you are already a wife or a mum, then Kaye suggests you keep her a secret so you can look like a Supermum.
Lifestyle Assistance has a range of options, such as a five hour per month package (perfect for busy families who need last minute help at random times) to one-off packages for a specific job. And the price? Extremely reasonable (call her to find out). Charging in fifteen minute increments after the initial half hour means that no job is too big or too small.
With Kaye's natural affinity for families and children, a package from Lifestyle Assistance would prove to be a unique and practical gift for a first-time mum. She would be able to provide services from arranging meals, doing the food shopping, running kids to school, purchasing baby supplies, assisting with transport to post-natal appointments, printing photos - anything that would be required. She would probably even write your thank-you notes.
If you are new to Perth and need to be shown around, need to call on someone for last minute jobs, are a FIFO workers who hates coming home to a cold, dark house and empty fridge, or are heading away on holiday and need your dog walked while you are away, consider Lifestyle Assistance. Have a rock star life without the rock star prices.
