If you had more time for you what would you do?
People Who Make Time For Themselves Are Usually Happier
It seems that no one ever has enough time to get the bare minimum done, let alone time for themselves. Almost everyone seems to be working overtime, going back to school, helping chauffeur their kids around, running all necessary errands, and trying to keep a romantic relationship going all at the same time. All of that sounds overwhelming, because it is. If you had more time for you what would you do?
You probably think the concept of personal time sounds nuts. Think about it. Would you read a book for fun? Would you train for a marathon? Would you sleep until noon and eat ice cream? Personal time does not have to sound like some obscure concept that came out in the latest academic journal on social psychology which was only read by a few professors and graduate students. Try to imagine a life in which you could take an evening or two off every week. You would be absolved of all responsibilities, from cleaning dishes to picking up your dry cleaning. If you had more time for you what would you do?
Reconnect with old friends over dinner? Treat yourself to a date and go to the movie theater solo?
Maybe you should start to think more about yourself. People who take care of themselves tend to be happier spouses, parents, employees, friends, and relatives. There are ways to make more time for you and become a healthier, happier person. It can be easier to make commitments to other people than to yourself because others will likely hold you accountable for your actions. You need to learn how to take care of yourself and hold yourself accountable.
Instead of wishing that you had more time to do fun things, make time. If you had more time for you what would you do? Maybe now would be a good time to start searching the web for fun and interesting things that you have always wanted to try but could never find the time.
